Wide Receivers / Tight Ends

This was one of the strangest games you’ll ever see for wide receivers and tight ends, as only four players caught a pass for Penn State. Of course the weather played a role in this, but four is still a very low number.

K.J Hamler once again put on a show as he caught five passes for 96 yards. Senior DeAndre Thompkins also played one of, if not his best game of the season, catching five passes for 59 yards.

True freshman Jahan Dotson was in the rotation again after we saw him last week against Indiana. Dotson caught two passes for 21 yards. True freshman tight end Pat Freiermuth once again showed his talent as he caught an 18-yard touchdown from Trace McSorley. This was Freiermuth’s only catch of the game.

Juwan Johnson was held out of most of this game due to an injury, and Brandon Polk didn’t catch a pass. Polk was unable to come up with a bomb down the field thrown by Tommy Stevens towars the end of the second half.

Despite only a few players catching passes, I didn’t think this was a bad game for the receivers. They caught most of what was thrown at them, unlike other games. The conditions were also extremely tough for the receivers, which makes the game they had even better.
