Penn State Football: Position grades versus Iowa
By Dylan Burd
Running Backs
Compared to the quarterbacks, the running back position was pretty uneventful for Penn State. Miles Sanders was the only running back to play for Penn State on Saturday, and he had only 62 yards on 17 carries.
Sanders also didn’t play a role in the passing game at all, as he didn’t a single pass. The fumble caused by the miscommunication of Sanders and McSorley was credited to Sanders, so a lot of the blame definitely falls on him for that.
It seemed as though Miles Sanders was struggling with his footing several times on the wet grass of Beaver Stadium, which is a definite cause of him only averaging 3.6 yards per carry in the game. Iowa’s running defense was also top five in the country coming into this game.
It’s certain that Miles Sanders has seen better days, but the challenge will only get tougher in Ann Arbor as Michigan has the best defense in the country.
