Linebackers

The Penn State linebackers continued to be underwhelming in this game. Yes, there’s a ton of inexperience out there, so that’s certainly a reason why.

To start, obviously the linebackers also played a role in allowing the 224 rushing yards to Indiana, which isn’t good. In addition, the linebackers didn’t get pressure on the quarterback for the second straight game, as none of them had a tackle or even a tackle for loss.

True freshman Micah Parsons, who’s been a bright spot for this unit, had eight tackles. Cam Brown also had eight tackles, and had a pass defended as well. Koa Farmer had seven tackles, and Jan Johnson had three tackles. Jan Johnson is tied for the team lead in tackles this season with 37.

In order to win the next three games, the linebackers are going to need to step up, and not only limit rushing yards, but get to the quarterback and force turnovers.
