If you are going to wear the No. 31 on defense at Penn State, you better be ready to come with the thunder. Paul Posluszny wore that fabled number during his time in Happy Valley. When it was all said and done, Posluszny had turned himself into one of the best linebackers the Penn State football program had ever seen.

Posluszny started for the Nittany Lions as a true freshman. He played so well that he was named a Freshman All-American. A two-time All-Big Ten selection, Posluszny followed in the footsteps of former Penn State linebacker greats Shane Conlan and Andre Collins in wearing No. 31. Frankly, some of the more legendary players in program history feel that Posluszny is the best linebacker in program history.

During his time at Penn State, Posluszny had the rare honor of being named a team captain as a junior. He ended up being named an All-American in both 2005 and 2006. Those two seasons were magical ones for the linebacker, as he also won the Chuck Bednarik Award as well, and added the 2005 Dick Butkus Award in for good measure.

The Pennsylvania native would end up playing four seasons at Penn State, and when it was all said and done, the Buffalo Bills drafted him in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Buffalo before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency. With the Jaguars, he would become one of the more beloved players in franchise history. Posluszny is an absolute legend in Happy Valley, and rightfully so.
