Penn State Football: Position Grades at Pitt

Secondary

After a horrendous opening performance, the secondary played great against Pitt. Of course, the bad weather helped them out, but that doesn’t take away from the game they played. Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett only had 55 yards passing, no touchdowns, and one interception. The passing game for Pitt was simply non-existent.

Senior cornerback Amani Oruwariye had the one interception, his second in two weeks. He also had two passes defended. NFL Draft scouts were raving about Oruwariye’s performance on Twitter, as he’ll be drafted within the first two rounds if he keeps up his shut down defending.

Safety Garrett Taylor and cornerback Tariq Catro-Fields each had five tackles. Cornerback Zech McPhearson had four tackles, including one for a loss of yards. Safety Lamont Wade contributed with four tackles, and safeties Ayron Monroe and Nick Scott each had two tackles.
