Penn State Football 2018 Player Profile: LB Koa Farmer
Linebacker Koa Farmer is in line for a big senior season with Penn State football.
Penn State enters the upcoming 2018 season with several question marks on the depth chart. One position that will need to rely on some new faces is linebacker. However, despite missing two starters from a year ago, senior Koa Farmer is ready to step in and be a leader.
Farmer is coming off a season that saw him make 48 total tackles with a sack while starting all 13 games at outside linebacker. His best game of the year came during an eight-tackle performance against Pitt.
He has a clear lock on a starting spot at outside linebacker for the 2018 season and will look to improve on his numbers from a year ago. As a senior and a veteran, he’ll be looked to as a leader of the Penn State defense.
Farmer came to Penn State as a member of the 2014 class. His versatility and athletic ability made him an intriguing prospect for the Nittany Lions. He entered Penn State as a defensive back, but was later switched to linebacker due to need.
In his early seasons with the Nittany Lions Farmer was able to show off his multiple skills by being a member of special teams. During his redshirt freshman season in 2015 he worked primarily as the Nittany Lions’ kick returner.
Fast forward to the present season, and Farmer could still see some time as a kick or punt returner when needed. However, his main job will be to help pace the defense from his outside linebacker position.
