FanSided Fandom 250: Penn State Nittany Lions land at No. 110
See where Penn State landed in FanSided Fandom 250 — a ranking of the best fan bases across several different categories.
FanSided once again this year announced the FanSided Fandom 250 rankings of the best fans bases. Nominees were announced throughout November and the official rankings were just released Tuesday.
The FanSided Fandom 250 is an annual ranking of the best fan bases across sports, fashion, brands, entertainment, and pop culture. Celebrities, brands, games, athletes, teams, movies, and television shows are just some examples of what’s listed in the rankings.
Penn State came in at No. 110 this year. That’s a huge jump from the No. 217 ranking the Nittany Lions received last year. Sports make up a large portion of the rankings, and for Penn State to make such a large jump is a big accomplishment.

All anyone has to do is attend one football game at Beaver Stadium and it will be easy to see that Penn State fans are among the most passionate around. 100,000 thousand fans pack the stadium, and thousands more remain outside in the surrounding parking lots just to be part of the Penn State experience on a football Saturday.

Aside from having loyal football fans in the local area, Penn State has one of the largest alumni associations in the entire country. Nittany Lions can be found in many different professions in all parts of America.
The Nittany Lions fell short of some expectations this year, but a second straight 10-win regular season endured a prestigious berth in the Fiesta Bowl agains the Washington Huskies.

24 college fan bases made the FanSided Fandom 250. The Nittany Lions came in at No. 10 among college teams — just ahead of Michigan and just behind USC. Big Ten foe Ohio State was ranked as the top collegiate fan base and actually topped the entire list of all fan bases.
