Fordham head coach Andrew Breiner

Other than Joe Moorhead, no one knows his offense better than Andrew Breiner. This is because Breiner spent four years as Moorhead’s offensive coordinator at Fordham, before replacing Moorhead as Fordham’s head coach when Moorhead left for Penn State.

Similar to promoting Ricky Rhane to offensive coordinator, hiring Breiner would help to make the transition to a new offensive coordinator seamless while minimizing change.

While Fordham’s offense continued to click under Breiner in 2016, it took a step back in 2017. However, the Rams also lost All-American running back Chase Edmonds to graduation after 2016 and were decimated by injury in 2017.

Andrew Breiner is a 33-year-old native of Meadville, PA, native and a graduate of Lock Haven University. Being a Pennsylvania native could add to Breiner’s interest in the job. Do not be surprised if Breiner’s name surfaces a candidate to be Penn State’s new offensive coordinator.

Even if Rahne is promoted to offensive coordinator, Breiner is a coach I would kick the tires on if I were James Franklin about potentially becoming the new quarterbacks coach.

However, it is also possible, if not likely, that Breiner will be asked by JoMo to join his staff in Starkville. If given that opportunity, I can not forsee Breiner telling his mentor no.
