Candidates to be Penn State football’s new offensive coordinator
By Marty Leap
Who could replace Joe Moorhead as Penn State’s offensive coordinator?
All good things must come to an end. Well, unfortunately for Penn State football fans that statement hits home right now as offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead is leaving Happy Valley to become the head coach at Mississippi State University.
Joe Moorhead resurrected the Penn State offense starting in 2016. He led the Nittany Lions’ offense to being 21st and seventh nationally in scoring during his two years in Happy Valley. He has undoubtedly earned a head coaching position and while it sucks to see him go, I could not be happier for JoMo.
With the innovator of tuddies now in Starkville, Mississippi, it is up to James Franklin to hire a new offensive coordinator. All Penn State fans should have the utmost confidence in Franklin’s ability to find a new leader for his offense. After all, Franklin’s history when having to replace coaches is excellent.
Joe Moorhead, Matt Limegrover, and Tim Banks were all strong hires by Franklin two offseasons ago. Now, he must work his magice yet again to find the Nittany Lions a new offensive coordinator.
That said, the Nittany Lions need a new offensive coordinator. So, who are some candidates to replace Moorhead?
