Penn State Football: 2017 Position Grades vs Maryland
Offensive Line
The O-Line has turned a corner. They looked like a top-tier unit on Saturday, and it showed. McSorley had unlimited time to throw and the run game compiled 286 yards alone. They got off the ball and didn’t just hold their blocks. After such a brutal year for most of the 2017-2018 season, this group looks to have grown up.
The O-Line still has to advance itself against better competition. They’ve trounced over some sub-par opponents, but it’s time to see them display that against stronger teams. They’ll get that chance here in a month.
If the entire O-Line steps up there’s a lot of hope for next year. I’d be willing to bet that they’ll heal up and make a nice showing of themselves. At 10-2, a lot of people rode this group as one of the reasons a national championship season didn’t happen. They can fight that talk with a strong bowl game.
