Week 14 of high school football season is in the books. So, here is VBR’s weekly look at how Penn State football commits performed over the weekend.

Throughout the 2017 football season I will take a look at how Penn State football commits perform in their high school football games each week. Even though high school football season is starting to wind down across the country, there is still plenty to talk about after this past weekend.

We will start with this week’s top performer – Charlie Katshir.

The future Nittany Lion linebacker’s high school career came to an end on Friday night as the Cumberland Valley Eagles were defeated by Manheim Township by a score of 24-21. The loss, however, was not due to Katshir, who finished the night with 157 receiving yards, 26 rushing yards, and two touchdowns.

Staying in Pennsylvania, Nick Tarburton returned to action for the Pennridge Rams after a one game suspension. In the Rams’ season finale they defeated Quakertown 34-6 to finish the season 10-3. Tarburton ran for a touchdown and caught another in the Ram victory.

In District 10, offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and the Cathedral Prep Ramblers continued to roll. After defeating Thomas Jefferson 42-17, the Ramblers are now 12-0 this season and are now one win away from the 4A State Championship Game.

Like Scruggs, safety Isheem Young and the Imhotep Charter Panthers are also one win away from the 4A State Championship Game. This comes after a 41-0 victory over Valley View in which Young had 151 yards rushing, 59 yards receiving, and two touchdowns. You can check out highlights of the game from Young below.

In New Jersey, five-star wide receiver Justin Shorter and the South Brunswick Vikings defeated North Brunswick 42-20 to improve to 10-1 on the season. Shorter had three carries for nine yards and one reception for 22 yards.

Running back Ricky Slade‘s fantastic senior season came to an end due to the Hylton Bulldogs’ (VA) 28-14 playoff loss against Woodbridge. Slade was held to just 34 yards rushing and 22 yards receiving. In Michigan, offensive tackle AJ Reed and the Muskegon Big Red defeated Harrison 28-10 in the Division 3 State Championship Game. Congratulations to AJ and the Big Red on finishing the season 15-0 and as state champions!

In the state of Texas, cornerback Trent Gordon and the Manvel Mavericks improved to 11-0 on the season with a 51-26 victory over Nederland. Gordon finished the game with six tackles and a sack. Meanwhile, in Sachse, safety Isaiah Humphries and the Mustangs improve to 12-0 on the season with a thrilling 24-17 overtime victory against Rockwall. Humphries had nine tackles and a pass breakup for the Mustangs.

Finally, in Maryland, wide receiver Daniel George and the Oxon Hill Clippers’ season came to an end at the hands of Linganore by a score of 51-14. George was the lone brigh

t spot for Clippers as he racked up 167 receiving yards and caught two touchdowns in the loss.

Next: Players of the game vs Maryland

That will do it for this week. A select few Penn State football commits are still competing in the playoffs, so continue to check back here at Victory Bell Rings each week for updates on these players until their seasons come to an end.
