Coaching

James Franklin deserves high marks for keeping this team focused. After Penn State football’s national title chances slipped away, this team could’ve folded, but it didn’t. Franklin kept them locked in, and they returned to form.

Penn State football has taken a lot of flack on both sides of the ball, but the coordinators prevailed again. Just like last week, Joe Moorhead added some flair to the play calling and the offense gashed the Huskers. Tommy Stevens got back on the field as well. He caught some passes and created defensive attention.

Defensive coordinator Brent Pry has some work to do with the depth of this defense, but the core guys held the Huskers in check. The secondary might need rework as well. At first, the Michigan State and Ohio State games seemed like an aberration, but there’s a serious problem when those numbers are being put up versus Nebraska.
