It felt good to see the Nittany Lions get back to their winning ways last week — it was much-needed. The game started slow, but ended well, so I’m hoping that momentum continues into this week. Penn State has not been good against Nebraska recently, but this will be the year it changes.

Even with two losses on the year, there’s still a ton for Penn State to play for. A berth in a New Year’s Six bowl is well within reach, and yes, there’s even a slight chance that a miracle happens and the Nittany Lions land in the CFP.

That’s looking ahead to much, so I need to get back on track — Nebraska, Nebraska, Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers have been bad this year and are coming off a blowout loss to Minnesota. The offense has been mediocre and the defense has been atrocious, particularly against the run.

Saquon Barkley, who is really in need of a huge game for his Heisman hopes, should get an opportunity to exploit a Nebraska defense that’s giving up 200 yards rushing a game. Of course, last week’s juicy matchup with Rutgers didn’t work so well for Barkley, but I have faith this week.

Between the play of Barkley — who is likely playing his last game at home — and Trace McSorley, look for the Nittany Lions to put up huge numbers on offense.

The Penn State defense has been very stout at home this year, and that should continue this week. The Cornhuskers are averaging just 25 points a game, while the Nittany Lions have allowed an average of 14 a game.

Last week’s slow start after two road games was expected, but I don’t see that happening this week. The forecast is calling for rain, so I’m backing down my original prediction a bit. Still, Penn State rolls in this one.
