Penn State Football: 2017 position grades vs Rutgers
Can we all breathe a brief sigh of relief yet? After two horrible losses, Penn State football rose above a slow start to roll Rutgers 35-6.
Back in the win column and it feels so good, well, sort of. Penn State football bounced back after losing two games by a combined four points. The final score looked great and the defense displayed its dominance once again. Although the win moved the Nittany Lions to 8-2, the problems of old still persist.
The offensive line gave Saquon Barkley basically zero holes and provided little time for Trace McSorley to throw. It’s the same fatal flaw that has been there all season. The only reason Penn State reached such an impressive ranking was due to everything else.
McSorley deserves a lot of credit for answering the critics after last week. He delivered when the team got off to a rocky start.
It’s the reason he’s now the team’s all-time leader in total touchdowns with (68). Those numbers are absurd especially when you consider how he’s started just 24 games. He’ll certainly be on the Mount Rushmore for Penn State quarterbacks when he leaves.
