Penn State Football: Position Grades in 42-13 win over Michigan
Penn State football made a statement about the trajectory of this year’s team. The Nittany Lions romped past Michigan 42-13.
Another Saturday, another big-time, blowout win for Penn State football. The formula continues to follow suit every Saturday. The defense suffocates and the offense shows off an array of weapons. This week the whole team showed out in a dominant win over the Wolverines.
The offense got off to a hot start and closed out the game well on its way to 42 points. A rough stint should’ve been expected against a stout Wolverines’ defense. The offensive valley in the middle didn’t throw too much of a wrench in the plans.
Trace McSorley put up his best running day of the season with 76 yards and three touchdowns. His arm did enough, and he made just one poor decision on the day. Running back Saquon Barkley went off yet again rushing for his third 100-plus yard game this season.
This week the defense had its fun sacking Wolverine quarterback Johnny O’Korn seven times. Along with a swarming linebacking core, the defense shut down both the passing and running game.
The Wolverines rushed for only 103 yards due in large part to great linebacker play and complex D-Line stunts. While the secondary didn’t come up with an interception, it helped pitch a second half shutout while limiting UM to less than 170 passing yards.
