Week four of high school football season is in the books. So, here is VBR’s weekly look at how Penn State football commits performed over the weekend.

Throughout the 2017 football season I will take a look at how Penn State football commits perform in their high school football games each week. With high school football now in full swing across the country, there is plenty to talk about after this past weekend.

We will start with this week’s top performer – quarterback Will Levis.

Levis had a huge night for the Xavier Falcons as they improved to 2-2 on the season. In their 56-3 victory, Levis was 21-of-28 passing for 353 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown. You can watch highlights of Levis’ performance here.

Staying in the New England states, we next check in on tight end Pat Freiermuth. In a 28-3 victory for the Brooks School Freiermuth had 64 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Moving south to the DMV, running back Ricky Slade had a very interesting night. Slade finished the night with -10 yards rushing, however, he still scored three touchdowns. Slade rushed for a touchdown, added 53 receiving yards and a touchdown, and he threw a pass which went 70 yards for a score.

More from Victory Bell Rings

Offensive tackle Nana Asiedu and North Stafford improved to 5-1 on the season with a 55-14 victory over Stafford. Asiedu’s blocking helped pave the way for over 300 rushing yards from the Wolverine offense.

Wide receiver Daniel George had just 30 receiving yards in Oxon Hill’s 47-0 victory, but he returned a kick for a touchdown and also scored on a pick-six. The McDonogh Eagles and PJ Mustipher improved to 4-1 on the season with a 17-6 victory over Archbishop Spalding. Mustipher had a huge night recording 11 tackles, including three for a loss.

Head East of State College to the Garden State, only defensive end Dorian Hardy was in action as South Brunswick and Justin Shorter had a bye week. Hardy recorded four tackles and a sack in Paramus Catholic’s 23-14 loss to St. Peter’s Prep.

In the Midwest, offensive tackle Bryce Effner and Metea Valley (IL) lost — again  — to fall to 0-6 on the season. Due to mono, this was just the second game Effner has played in this season. As for fellow offensive tackle AJ Reed, he helped Muskegon High School (MI) rack up 70 points as the Big Red improved to 6-0 on the season. Ankeny, Iowa, kicker Jake Pinegar remains out of action due to a knee injury. However, as you can see below, he is back to booting kicks.

Defensive tackle Aeneas Hawkins remains out of action for Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati due to a foot injury.

Down in Florida the Plant Panthers and Judge Culpepper improved to 4-0 on the season with a 36-0 victory over Sickes High School. Culpepper had a pair of tackles in the victory. Cornerback Jordan Miner and Wiregrass Ranch High School had a bye week.

Cornerback Trent Gordon and the Manvel Mavericks (TX) improved to 3-0 on the season with a 70-14 victory. Gordon had a pair of tackles in the win. Penn State’s other Texan commit — safety Isaiah Humphries — had a bye week.

Finally, there are Penn State commits from Pennsylvania.

Linebacker Jesse Luketa and Mercyhurst Prep improved to 6-0 on the season with a 45-7 victory over Middlesex. Luketa finished the night with five tackles, as well as 65 receiving yards and a touchdown. Also in Erie, offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and Cathedral Prep defeated St. Francis High School out of New York 48-0 to improve to 6-0 on the season. The blocking of Scruggs helped the Ramblers rack of 458 yards of total offense.

Nick Tarburton and the Pennridge Rams improved to 4-2 on the season with a 35-28 victory over Council Rock South. The future Nittany Lion linebacker finish with 11 yards rushing, 14 yards receiving, and 12 tackles including a tackle for a loss. Safety commit Isheem Young rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns in Imhotep Charter’s 42-14 victory over Haverford School.

Wide receiver Shaquon Anderson-Butts and his Harrisburg team defeated Hershey 60-0 to improve to 5-0 on the season. SAB had quiet night recording just 22 yards of total offense and a pair of tackles. Charlie Katshir and the Cumberland Valley Eagles suffered their first loss of the season in a 20-14 defeat at the hands of the Central Dauphin Rams. Katshir finished the night with 106 yards of total offense, six tackles, and a forced fumble.

Penn State’s lone class of 2019 commit – cornerback Keaton Ellis – did not play in the State College High School Little Lions 70-14 victory over Carlisle.
