Penn State Football: Position Grades versus Indiana Hoosiers
Coaching
Can we give Joe Moorhead a break for the play calling? Everyone was pretty upset with his calls against Iowa, but he’s working with a mixed bag up front. The unit’s problems were avoided at least for this week, and he even added in some more flair. He let Barkley throw a touchdown and brought back the RPO a couple of times.
Penn State football’s defense kept its swarming attack alive and forced more turnovers. Brent Pry is having a field day with all these weapons and he puts them in position to make plays. Right now, the defense is allowing just 9.4 points per game. The jury’s still out on whether they can continue that against the better Big Ten offenses, but still it’s a nice start.
For the frontman James Franklin, I think a 5-0 record and continued improvements every week deserves a quality grade. This team isn’t complacent and looks better than the start of the season, so it’s a B-plus for Franklin and company.
Grade: B+
