Defensive Line

The defensive line got into the backfield at times, but for the most part, the linebackers took control of this game. The D-Line created enough push up front to open up plays for the linebackers nonetheless.

There wasn’t one particular player that exploded for a big game, but Penn State football’s front four played well enough. Defensive tackle Parker Cothren starts the list with four tackles and a fumble recovery. Shareef Miller added to his nice season with four more tackles as well. Not many other contributors had big days outside of that.

Indiana managed to move the ball in spurts and a lot of that happened because of low pressure and contain on quarterback Peyton Ramsey. He rushed 12 times for 53 yards and was never tackled behind the line of scrimmage once. Linebacker Jason Cabinda recorded the only sack, and it came against Richard Lagow.

Something to watch for is how this defense line plays against scramblers in the future. Ramsey had his way against them, so Northwestern’s Clayton Thorson should be another great test.
