Receivers / Tight Ends

Saturday, September 30th should be named DaeSean Hamilton day in State College. He put up a career performance in reaching multiple milestones along the way. He had five more catches than the next closest player with nine, stepping up when the run game and offense needed it most.

Juwan Johnson added a nice complement to him out wide. He caught four passes for 63 yards and pushes his productive season along. Although he’s not quite broken out consistently, he’s been a quality addition.

Mike Gesicki’s fast start to the 2017 season has teetered off since week two. It’s likely due to a multitude of reasons including an up and down passing attack. After catching 10 passes for 98 yards and four TDs in the first two weeks, he’s caught just 10 passes for 70 yards and zero TDs in the last three weeks. An injury did hurt his day as well, but he’s not had the same success he saw early on.

Gesicki and the rest of the contributors need to step up and become a little more reliable. McSorley’s growth will help this, but Chris Godwin’s hole still needs to be filled in the Penn State football receiving corp.
