The Wildcats take the biggest tumble in this week’s rankings.  Last week Northwestern was our No. 5 team, but they were on shaky footing after struggling to put away a Nevada squad.  This week they drop to No. 11 after laying an egg at Duke.

Give the Blue Devils credit for containing Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson and running back Justin Jackson.  Thorson managed a paltry 120 yards on 11-for-29 passing while Jackson rushed for a scant 18 yards on eight carries.

Right now it appears that the Wildcats are unsure of themselves and they are looking for an identity.

That identity had better come in a hurry this week against Bowling Green because Northwestern opens their Big Ten schedule on Sept 30 by traveling to Wisconsin followed by a home date with Penn State
