Defensive Line

Pressure and production went hand-in-hand with this grade. the D-Line got after the quarterback and played pretty well Saturday afternoon. Shareef Miller set the tone with two sacks and three total tackles. The speedy defensive end already recorded more sacks in the win over Pitt than he did in all of 2016. He’ll be a player to continue watching on the Penn State football defense.

Against outside runs, the speed at the defensive spots overwhelmed Pitt. Torrence Brown along with Miller set the edge. Their versatility up front caused problems, but it also struggled to stop misdirection runs and the power run game.

Qadree Ollison rumbled through that line and the offensive line handled the smaller D-Line at times. Ollison’s presence caused the defense to key in and lose the shovel pass at times. Although the offense got its plays in the defensive line’s speed was too much the majority of the time.
