Offensive Line

Not the best week for Penn State football’s hog mollies up front. They went up-and-down in terms of pass protection costing a couple drives due to sacks and tackles for loss. They struggled to pickup blitzes allowing plays to be made in the backfield.

Nevertheless, the group finished strong and created enough space for Barkley to run. After a strong week against Akron and a poor week against Pitt, the team needs to find some consistency. An easier game against Georgia State will be an opportunity to clean some things up. However, teams like Iowa already loom, so it better be a quick clean up.

Andrew Nelson finally returned to the starting lineup this week. The more he’s on the field the better this offense will play. His senior leadership and experience adds to still improving offensive front. They don’t need to be perfect because McSorley and Barkley can mask a lot of problems. Nevertheless, there needs to be a better outing this week.
