Welcome back to the recruiting roundup, a weekly look at all things Penn State Football recruiting here at Victory Bell Rings.

The world of college football recruiting is one that never stops spinning. That has been especially true of late in the world of Penn State Football recruiting. Right now, the Nittany Lions are recruiting at the highest level.

The month of July has been great for the Nittany Lions, as they have added six commitments to their 2018 recruiting class this month. But as the month winds down and fall camp approaches, what is on the horizon for Penn State Football recruiting? Well, the weekly recruiting roundup here at Victory Bell Rings is the place to find out.

Ken Montgomery Jr. ready to announce

Later today, 3-star cornerback Ken Montgomery Jr. will announce his college decision. Originally, the Tampa Bay native had a final four of Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, and UCLA. He has since added South Florida to the mix as well.

Other than maybe UCLA, it is hard to envision Montgomery Jr. committing to any of these schools except South Florida. I would expect him to choose the Bulls this evening. However, he is a recruit the Nittany Lions will most likely keep warm.

The reason the coaching staff would do this is protection in case of any de-commitments down the road. While all of Penn State’s defensive back commits appear to be very solid right now, if one were to reopen their commitment Ken Montgomery Jr. is a player the staff could look to push for down the road.

A top defensive target on the verge of a commitment?

4-star defensive tackle Aeneas Hawkins appears to be closing in on a college decision. Hawkins has told cincinnati.com that he has narrowed his large offer list down to just Cincinnati and Penn State. Furthermore, he told them he would like to commit at some point in early August.

Hawkins visited Penn State for the Lasch Bash on July 15th. Following this visit, the Nittany Lions appear to have emerged as the team to beat for Hawkins. Prior to the that, he looked to be leaning toward his hometown Bearcats, where Hawkins is a legacy recruit.

Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class is quickly filling up. However, the Nittany Lions still have a few holes to fill on the defensive line. Hawkins could fill one of these holes and soon.

A new linebacker offer goes out

Last week, the Nittany Lions offered fast-rising, 3-star linebacker Isaak Togia. This came a day after Togia was offered by Notre Dame. The Garden Grove, California, native also holds offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Washington, among others.

Penn State would still like to add another linebacker to their 2018 recruiting class. If they are able to get Togia on campus for a visit, then they may push for it to be him. Togia will be a name worth watching in the future.
