Jordan Miner has committed to Penn State.

Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class now has 14 members. Four-star cornerback Jordan Miner has committed to Penn State. This commitment gives the Nittany Lions a pair of cornerbacks in their 2018 recruiting class as Miner joins Texas native Trent Gordon.

Jordan Miner attends Winegrass Ranch High School in Tampa Bay. The Sunshine State standout chose the Nittany Lions over offers from Auburn, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, among others.

Miner has only visited Penn State once. That visit came back in June, and it goes without saying that it was a great visit. That lone visit was enough to get Miner to commit to the Nittany Lions today.

Checking in at six-foot-one, 177 pounds Jordan Miner brings great size to the cornerback position. Due to this size, a potential move to safety down the road is not out of the realm of possibility for Miner.

He does a great job of high-pointing the ball and has great ball skills while in coverage. Miner also possesses very good ball awareness skills when in coverage. He is also not afraid to get physical and contribute in run defense.

While Miner is not the fastest player in the world, he has good closing speed when pursuing ball carriers in the open field. He also has enough acceleration and athleticism to be able to run with receivers in coverage.

Jordan Miner could still use some improvement when in his backpedal. His hip placement could also use some tweaking when trying to turn in coverage. However, the Nittany Lions are getting a player with a very high ceiling in Miner.

Landing Miner is a strong recruiting victory for James Franklin and company. Anytime a northern school pulls a 4-star talent out of the South it is a big achievement. Especially when they hold an offer from in-state schools such as Miner does with the Florida Gators.

With the commitment of Jordan Miner, Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class now checks in as the 4th best in the country according to the Composite Rankings of 247 Sports. You can watch Miner’s film here.

Welcome to Happy Valley, Jordan!
