Penn State Football: 2017 Game Themes Announced

Penn State has released the themes for every home game of the upcoming 2017 season. 

Although spring practice is still going on at Penn State it is never too early to start thinking about the games that are upcoming for the 2017 season. The Nittany Lions will host seven games at Beaver Stadium, including Big Ten powerhouse Michigan. Penn State won all seven home games last year and will look to repeat that feat this season.

The home slate kicks off with the season opener on September 2 against Akron. That game will be Youth Sports and Spirit Day. Pre-game sports and cheer clinics will be averrable for youth.

September 9 will bring the Keystone Classic, an in-state battle with Pitt. Before the game, last year’s Big Ten Championship team will be honored by the placing of 2016 on the suites. At halftime, the 1982 National Championship team will be recognized.

The third home game in September on September 16 against Georgia State will be the Blue Band Jam, All-University Day, Community Heroes Recognition, and Scout Celebration. Aside from brining students fro the commonwealth campuses, the Blue Band will perform its Band Jam, while special tickets prices will be offered for Police, Fire, and EMS. Youth involved in scouts will have a special gathering before the game.

Indiana will invade beaver Stadium on September 30 for Faculty and Staff Day and a celebration of agriculture.

Of course, the biggest home game on the schedule is the October 21 battle with the Wolverines. That game has been designated as the annual White Out.

Following the White Out, the next game at Beaver Stadium will be Homecoming on November 11 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. That day will also be set aside for Military Appreciation Day and Seats for service members.

The final home game of the 2017 season will come against Nebraska on November 18. Aside from Senior Day, it will be the annual Stripe Out, as well as Educator Appreciation Day.
