Michal Menet has a chance to make a big impact as a redshirt freshman for Penn State this season.

Penn State will enter the 2017 season with a lot of experience returning on both offense and defense. Along with the returners, several newcomers will be in the mix. Some redshirt freshmen and true freshmen will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact. One such player is redshirt freshman Michal Menet.

Once a weak part of the offense, Penn State’s offensive line improved greatly last season and looks to be trending upward. Head coach James Franklin and his staff made building the line a clear priority in recruiting over the past few cycles.

Menet was brought in as part of the 2016 recruiting class. 247Sports had him ranked as the No. 1 guard and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania. He came in at No. 28 in the National Composite. Landing Menet, especially while the Nittany Lions were really struggling on the offensive line, was a big deal for Franklin and company.

Standing at six-foot-four and nearly 300 pounds, Menet already has good size to play on the interior of the line. He was given a red shirt last season in order to grow and develop for an extra year.

Although listed as a guard during his recruiting, Menet is a very versatile player who will transition to center for the Nittany Lions in 2017.

Center Brian Gaia is the only starter from 2016 that won’t be around. That opens up a spot for Menet to step in a play right away this season.

Menet’s potential at Penn State is sky-high. He’s a very talented lineman who has a chance to step in right away and help the line right away. Offensive line coach will likely want to do all that he can to get Menet into the lineup this season.

There’s no reason to believe that Menet won’t have the chance to start right away in 2017. Thanks to the combination of his talent and the opportunity that will be presented, Michal Menet will be an impact freshman for the NIttany Lions this season.
