Jack Ham

At number one is one of the players that formed the foundation for “Linebacker U”, Jack Ham.

Ham was a three year starter from 1968 to 1970. The 1968 and 1969 seasons were both undefeated years for the Nittany Lions. In his senior year, Ham was nicknamed co-captain and had a career best 91 tackles and four interceptions. He also blocked 3 punts that season, which is still a Penn State season record.  Ham earned All-American honors for his outstanding season.

Ham finished his career at Penn State with 251 tackles, 153 unassisted. He was drafted in the second round of the 1971 NFL Draft.  In 1990 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and is the only Nittany Lion to be inducted in both the college and pro football hall of fames.

Ham’s leadership and fundamental play-making skills is what lands him in the top spot.
