Ki-Jana Carter

Perhaps only Larry Johnson’s 2002 season or Lydell Mitchell’s 1971 season stands ahead of Ki-Jana Carter’s 1994 campaign.

During the 1994 undefeated 12-0 season, Carter amassed 1,539 yards and 23 touchdowns.  His best game that year came against Michigan State where he ran for 227 yards and 5 touchdowns.

He was named All-American that year and finished second in the Heisman race.  In the Rose Bowl against Oregon, he bolted 83 yards to a touchdown on the Nittany Lions first offensive play, which remains the longest run in Penn State’s bowl history.  He finished that game with 156 yards and three touchdowns and was named Co-MVP of the game.

Carter was the first pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, but was plagued by injuries throughout the course of his seven-season professional career.
