Wide Receivers / Tight Ends:

It was a pretty solid day for the wide receivers with Chris Godwin leading them all.

Godwin finished the game with 11 catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns.  He caught pretty much everything that was thrown his way.  On the first touchdown he got open in the end zone when the Spartan defender fell down.  The second touchdown was even better, as Hack threaded it to Godwin on a fourth and goal slant pass from the five yard line.

After only having one catch against Michigan, DaeSean Hamilton bounced back with eight catches for 78 yards.  Saeed Blacknall only had one catch, but it was a huge catch and run for 77 yards.  He was caught from behind and fumbled the ball, but with a lucky bounce got it back.

Tight end Mike Gesicki didn’t make the trip with an unspecified injury, so Kyle Carter, Brent Wilkerson and Adam Breneman were the tight ends.  In the second quarter, Carter had a huge fumble after picking up a first down which Michigan State returned 77 yards for a touchdown, a big blow to the Nittany Lions when they were moving on the drive.

Overall it was decent job by this position unit.  They got open and made some plays, but the tight ends lack of receiving and blocking hurts the overall grade.
