Penn State didn’t exactly play great on Saturday, but the Nittany Lions were able to come out of Baltimore with a one-point victory over the Maryland Terrapins. Penn State was the favorite in the game, but couldn’t pull away from the pesky Terps. Eventually, Penn State did enough to pull out the win.

This game was a complete change from how things have gone this season. Normally, it’s the Penn State defense that carries the team. However, against the Terps, the defense struggled and the offense came through when needed.
Quarterback Christian Hackenberg played a fantastic game and became Penn State’s all-time leader in career passing yards and completions.
The defense had a tough time in this one, especially against Maryland’s rushing offense led by quarterback Perry Hills. The Nittany Lions had a tough time getting off the field on defense and let the Terps hang around right until the end of the game.
Though the win wasn’t pretty, it was Penn State’s first road win of the season and the third conference win of the year. With the victory, the Nittany Lions are now 6-2 on the season and eligible to play in a bowl game.
Now that the game’s over it’s time to look at position grades for this week.
