In front of a Homecoming crowd at Beaver Stadium, the Nittany Lions had their best performance of the season, beating Indiana 29-7.  With Akeel Lynch and Saquon Barkley out for the second-straight week, the coaching staff finally opened up the playbook and called plays to Christian Hackenberg’s strengths.  It was a pleasant sight for a change.  If the offense can develop a little more consistency and avoid disappearing acts like the third quarter, the Nittany Lions can be competitive in every game.

The defense took advantage of Indiana having to play without it’s top two play makers, quarterback Nate Sudfeld and running back Jordan Howard.  The Nittany Lions terrorized the Indiana offense all day, only allowing the one touchdown drive and 234 yards total.  The front seven absolutely dominated a very good Hoosier offensive line and the secondary held their own for the most part.

It was an all-around solid performance for a Penn State team that has struggled for long stretches during games this year.  After the season-opening loss at Temple, not too many people were confident in Penn State turning it around. But now, after five-straight wins, the Nittany Lions are now playing with momentum heading into a prime-time showdown with the Ohio State Buckeyes next Saturday.

Here are the position grades for the game.
