Wide Receivers / Tight Ends:

Chris Godwin is the best receiver on the team, no questions asked.  He caught four balls for 66 yards, including a great catch for 49 yards on the Nittany Lions’ last scoring drive.  Hackenberg also targeted him a handful of other times.

They need to find ways to get him the ball more often because he’s a play maker.

As for the rest of the wide receivers, it wasn’t a good day.  one catch for 12 yards by DaeSean Hamilton and that’s it.  Conservative game plan aside, and yes I know you are itching for that to be dissected and it will be, the receivers did not get enough separation from Army defenders. I think that also has to do with the routes they are expected to run.

Tight end Mike Gesicki had a nice birthday.  He only had one catch but he made it count, turning it into a 33-yard touchdown.  Other than that, Kyle Carter had one catch for nine yards and tight end/H-back caught his first two balls of the season for a total of 14 yards.

It’s pretty frustrating to watch the known talent of the receivers being wasted.
