Last year, these two programs went down to the wire but in the end, Penn State was able to pull out the victory. After drawing a great crowd at Rutgers last year on primetime, the Big Ten has already scheduled this year’s game for primetime.
Rutgers shocked a good majority of Big Ten fans last year as the Scarlet Knights collected a 8-5 record including a bowl win over North Carolina to end their season. However without the talents of Gary Nova, the Scarlet Knight’s offense has some uncertainty.
Rutgers in time will turn into a huge rival for Penn State, especially as both programs continue to get better. But for now, the game doesn’t have a great chance to be this year’s White Out game. The small rivalry that already exists appeals to more of the older Penn State fan base than the younger. While it isn’t a primetime game, Penn State fans usually look to pick a Big Ten conference game later in the season.
