Game Stats: Penn State: 26 – UCF: 24

As shown by the stats, Penn State’s defense was simply outstanding against UCF but Penn State’s three turnovers proved to be almost be fatal. Similar mistakes would be cause the Nittany Lions to lose several games later in the season.

  • Passing:
    • Christian Hackenberg – Penn State
      • Attempts: 47
      • Completions: 32
      • Yards: 454
      • Touchdowns: 1
      • Interceptions: 2

Hackenberg had an amazing day for the Nittany Lions against UCF completing 67% passes for 454 yards and a touchdown. Yes, he made two bad mistakes in his interceptions but he also showed throughout the game his pocket awareness, his mental awareness, as well as physical capabilities that will make him a top quarterback prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft.

    • ZachZwinak – Penn State
      • Carries: 12
      • Yards: 32
      • Average: 2.7
      • Touchdowns: 1

The reason we didn’t see any rushing plays in the piece was the lack of rushing by the Nittany Lions, yes they did rush the ball 28 times but they struggled to pick up any decent yardage throughout the game as they averaged only 2.0 yards per rush against UCF.

  • Receiving:
    • Geno Lewis – Penn State
      • Receptions: 8
      • Yards: 173
      • Average: 21.6
      • Touchdown: 1

The game against UCF appeared to be a breakout game for both Geno Lewis and DaeSean Hamilton as both had 150+ yard receiving games. Lewis however did have the play of the game for Penn State.
