Special Teams

It was an uneven day for the Special Teams unit on Saturday. Sam Ficken nailed two field goals, the punting game was better and Della Valle had a solid punt return, but a blocked FG and an extremely poor kick return bog down the grade. Ficken was his usual quality self, hitting easy field goals from 27 and 28. However, on his first attempt, the blocking in front of him didn’t hold and the kick was blocked. Ficken also had a poor day kicking off, averaging less than 60 yards per boot and recording zero touchbacks. Daniel Pasquariello was better than he’s been in this one, averaging 37.3 yards per punt and pinning five of those inside the 20. Not a bad day from this unit, but the blocked kick hurts.
