Penn State vs Michigan Game Grades
Quarterbacks
Don’t get me wrong, the line continues to be awful, but it felt like Christian Hackenberg took a step back on Saturday. Maybe this is due to play-calling, but it still seems like Hack is failing to make some throws he should make and is holding on to the ball too long. Hack finished 21 of 32 for 160 yards and a beautiful, bullet touchdown, but threw an ill-advised pick and developed no semblance of a rhythm in the second half. Hack is still running for his life in the pocket, but his awareness was lacking. He also knows how strong his arm is, sometimes to a disadvantage, trying to fit balls into tight spaces when they can just be thrown away. It wasn’t his best performance, but I’d like to see him sling the ball with play-calling more set to his skills.
