Linebackers –

It was another stellar, but not spectacular game from the linebacking corps on Saturday.

Mike Hull (11 tackles, 1 sack) was very impressive again, and the unit was solid in run defense all game long. Nyeem Wartman (6 tackles) and Brandon Bell (4 tackles) were stellar as well for Nittany Lions.

While all-in-all the unit was good against the run, there were a few instances in which they were caught out of position. The biggest knock on the unit that I could find was that they looked a little slow in coverage at times. As a collective unit, they were solid at not allowing the big play, but without a lot of depth at the position, the trio of starters looked winded in coverage against some of Akron’s quicker and shiftier players.

It was another good, workmanlike showing for the unit.

Grade – B+
