Secondary:

This group certainly benefited from the strong game by the front seven, but all-in-all, it wasn’t a bad performance.

Jordan Lucas was his normal solid self, breaking up three passes and notching two tackles. Trevor Williams was decent on the other side in coverage. Adrian Amos and Ryan Keiser didn’t do anything negatively, Keiser was flying around, leading to him picking up seven tackles. Amos (1 tackle, one breakup) didn’t show up much in the stat sheet, but he made his presence known. Da’Quan Davis looked spotty at times, especially on UCF’s touchdown.

This unit wasn’t great, but didn’t do anything to really hurt the Nittany Lions. If Holman started for the Knights the whole game, however, things could have gone differently. He seemed to be able to throw any pass he wanted in the second half.

Despite looking bad in the second half, the Penn State secondary still played solid and now has some things to work on heading into next week’s matchup with Akron.

Grade – B-
