Ranking the top-3 best Big Ten uniforms was extremely difficult. All three remaining teams have iconic uniforms that are universally recognizable throughout the country.
In third place are the uniforms of the Ohio State Buckeyes. The unmistakable colors of the scarlet and gray colors of the team from Ohio have been a fixture on the national landscape since 1878. In 1950 the Buckeyes nickname was added.
One set of jerseys feature a scarlet backdrop with white numerals. The sleeves have a bold scarlet stripe surrounded by two white stripes and further surrounded by two black stripes. The uniform pants are a standard gray color. The Buckeyes other jerseys are white with scarlet numerals. The sleeves have a bold white stripe surrounded by two scarlet stripes and further surrounded by two black stripes. In recent years, Ohio State has broken from tradition and worn alternate jerseys for important games.
Besides the scarlet and gray colors, the Ohio State helmets are affixed with decals depicting buckeye leaves which are given to players that are deemed to have made significant plays in the prior week’s game or have shown a consistent performance.
