The Nebraska Cornhuskers come in at #4 on our list of the Big Ten’s best uniforms.  Prior to the addition of Rutgers and Maryland, the Cornhuskers were the conference’s most junior member.  Their uniform represents a bygone era where it wasn’t what you wore that got people’s attention, but rather how you played on the field that drew their attention.

The Cornhusker colors are officially scarlet and cream and feature a block N dressed in scarlet on their helmet against a backdrop of cream.  The helmets have remained virtually unchanged since 1970.  Prior to 1970, the Cornhuskers had an “NU” on their helmet, but it is believed a lack of extra “U’s” plus the luck the single “N” gave the team was reason for the change.

Their jerseys are just as simple as their identifiable helmet.  The home jersey consists of a scarlet backdrop with white numerals and white stripes on the sleeve.  On the road, the Cornhuskers wear a cream-colored jersey with scarlet numerals.  The sleeves also have scarlet stripes.

Nebraska has ventured into the throwback and alternate jerseys as have most of today’s major college football teams.  In 2009 they wore throwback uniforms from 1962 to commemorate their 300th consecutive sellout.  2013 saw the Cornhuskers wear an alternate jersey when they squared off against UCLA.

Nebraska’s uniform has always been simple, direct, and classy.  While the colors are not bold or flashy, their uniform is unmistakable and has been synonymous with winning.
