Greg Schiano: Coach Schiano like many of the other possible candidates has ties to the Penn State family.  Schiano became a GA under Joe Paterno in 1990 before becoming the DB coach from 1991-1995.  Schiano was the head coach of Rutgers University from 2001-2011 before moving to the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012.  Schiano was recently relieved of his duties in Tampa Bay and sources have indicated that he would be strongly interested in returning to Happy Valley.  Whether or not the feeling is mutual remains to be seen.

Other potential longshot candidates to keep your eye on are: Michigan State DC Pat Narduzzi, former Browns HC Rob Chudzinski, and former Indianapolis HC Jim Caldwell.

Stay tuned to VBR for all of the latest developments in the search for Penn State’s 16th head coach.
