Penn State Recruiting 11/3/10

Success!

Definitely the word I would use to describe Penn State Football this weekend.  Not just Penn State winning on ESPN against Michigan, but having a huge amount of recruits turn out to see it…makes it that much sweeter!

Before we get to the recruits who were at the game, I want to remind everyone that 2011 LB, Conner Crowell, will be making his decision this Friday.  I’ll be following it, and giving updates on Twitter (twitter.com/itspatrickh).  If he chooses Penn State, I’ll make a article/post here.  My prediction?  Penn State.  Hopefully, I’m right.

Next, visitors for this weekends games (Which just got a whole lot bigger with Joe Pa going for #400)

Jordan Kerner (PSU commit), Christon Gill (Prep…if he has the grades, he’ll be wearing Blue & White), Anthony Alosi (Looked at as a preferred walk-on last year, but decided to go to prep to get some offers), and Albert Louis-Jean (He didn’t make it to Michigan game, but will be coming down with Reeves and Williams).  Now, 2012 recruits Armani Reeves (2012), Camren Williams (2012), Taylor Wrice (2012), Elijah St Hilaire (2012)

Other guys who I said would make the trip to the Michigan game, but ended up not.  Andre Sturdivant & Shane Wynn (Weird because Cardale Jones, a teammate, made the trip…Sturdivant will visit at a later time now), Doran Grant (Like I said, PSU had no shot), 2012 JJ Denman (Once again, PSU doesn’t seem to have much of a shot), and 2012 Nate Smith (He was Deion Barnes ride…apparently, Nate couldn’t make it either.)

Angelo Mangiro – Was rocking out a Penn State Scarf!

Donovan Smith – Head to toe…PSU gear.  Says it was a perfect visit, and he has seen everything he needs to see.  Will take visits to UCLA and Michigan State, and will make his decision sometime in December.  PSU Lock!  Just a matter of time.

Ishaq Williams – Loved the visit…especially the reverse, slow motion wave (That was a re-occruing theme with the recruits).  Was seen really enjoying his time on the sidelines.  Feeling very good about this one as well.  PSU and ND are the obvious top two.  Will make his decision at the Army All-American Game, and will then head straight to whichever school he selects, as he is an early enrolle.

Matt Zanellato – WR from Virginia.  Only has one offer from Miami…of Ohio.  Although, expect some more offers to come in after the season.  Playing at Lake Braddock, which is one of the premier high school football teams in the Mid-Atlantic.  Khramone Kolb (PSU OL) played there.  Anyway, Matt said Penn State is with out a doubt #1.

2012 recruits…

Adam Bisnowaty – OT from Pa.  Said, he is pretty much down to Penn State and Pitt.  Really wants to stay local, and already has offers from both schools.

Averee Robinson – DT from Pa.  Loved his visit.  Said the crowd was insanely loud, and that he was right next to Noah (Spence), and couldn’t even hear him when he was talking.  He said this after being asked, if PSU would be #1 if they offered: “After the game, they have definitely become my #1, and I’m not even a Penn State fan!”  More on Noah Spence, one of his best friends, later.

Bryan Cox JR – DE from Ohio.  Another guy who really enjoyed his visit.  Getting interest from a few other Big Ten schools as well.

Tom Strobel – DE from Ohio.  Forgot to mention him, but a 6’6 240 DE.  Actually, he visited PSU on Saturday and Pitt on Sunday.  When asked what visit he liked better…he said Pitt.  I’m not even kidding.  He said he got a lot of personal attention at Pitt, and got to meet most of the coaches (And all 33 of their fans…sorry, I had too).  If he gets an Ohio State offer…we’ll be facing him in the Big Ten.

Cannaan Severin – He loved it.  Shocking?  I know.  Seriously, good looking kid.  I would Penn State is up in his top, without a doubt.

Chris Muller – OT from Pa.  Loved the atmosphere, and really enjoyed the game.  A lot of the local schools are on him.  PSU offer should be coming soon.

Jamil Pollard – DT from NJ.  From West Deptford…where a former Penn State DB played, and now coaches.  His name?  Anthony Scirotto.  Hopefully, he is in his ear.  Pollard likes Penn State, anyway.  Should get offers from all of the local schools.

Eugene Lewis – WR from Pa.  Excellent athlete.  Penn State probably leads.  Just waiting for an offer.

Greg Garmon – RB from Pa.  Likes PSU a lot, but getting recruited harder by some ACC schools.  Which really, seems to be the norm with Penn State, especially this early in the “game”.

Jarron Jones – DT/OT from Pa.  Massive.  That is the word that will pop into your mind when you see him, according to people who saw him.  Big, athletic frame.  Just massive for a JR.  Long arms, as well.  I don’t see how he can’t be an OT.  Said the Penn State visit was much better than the BC visit (Sorry, BC).

JP Holtz – TE/DE from Pa.  I would say Penn State is in his Top, if not his top.  Coach Bradley is on him…which is always a good thing.

Tyler Alt – OG/DT from Pa.  Like Bisnowaty, really likes the local schools.  Pitt and PSU seem to be his top, in no order.  Friends with the Sukay’s (As in Nick Sukay’s family).

Wayne Morgan – CB from NY.  I’m stupid for forgetting about him.  Didn’t get down in pre-game, but did get in time for the game.  Obviously, loved the atmosphere.  He is a Top 50 player for the 2012.  Likes Miami and Penn State.

Noah Spence – DE from Pa.  Like I said, big time recruit from Bishop McDevitt…who haven’t been to kind to Penn State in the pass.  Most notably, LeSean McCoy (Lots of stories about his commitment).  Anyway, he REALLY was impressed.  When talking about the atmosphere, he said, “I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be like that…that is something you have to experience yourself”.  Sounds like we made up a lot of ground this weekend.  Also, he loves LJ SR, as does his father.  Still an uphill battle, but we have a chance.

Enough recruiting for now.  I’ll touch base on a few more recruits next week (Anthony Zettel especially).

How about that Michigan game?  But, what more needs to be said?  Royster torching them, the OL physically handling them, McGloin stepping up, and RichRod looking like a mad man on the sidelines.  Hopefully, we see a similar performance this week.  Minus, Pat Fitzgerald looking like a mad man.  I think and hope Bolden starts.  McGloin…you played the game of your life.  Now we know, we have a capable back up.  But, this is Bolden’s team.

Penn State – 33

Northwestern – 21
