Penn State Recruiting 10/27/10
By Editorial Staff
Huge recruiting weekend on tap. First off though, some poor news.
Quinton Pompey [DT from FL] just had an article out about him. No mention of Penn State. Which is very odd, considering he said we are his #1 just a few months ago. Nonetheless, I’m not expecting too much out of him the rest of the way…regarding Penn State.
Conner Crowell [LB from MD] will be making his decision November 5th, his Senior Night. He has known this for a while now. Down to Ohio State and Penn State, and he has said that he knows what school he will be attending. Still 50/50, but I’m going Penn State here.
Now some guys who were suppose to visit this weekend, but now aren’t:
–Allan Wasonga [RB from WV] – seems like the ship has sailed here. The staff doesn’t seem to keen on him anymore. Really a shame in my opinion…looked like a good football player, and loved us.
–Deion Barnes [DE from Pa] – He had originally planned to take an unofficial this weekend, getting a ride with Nate Smith (More on him later). He said he has a change of plans, and can’t make it. Why he can’t go now? Who knows…but he has STRONG PSU interest.
–Anthony Wallace [LB from TX] – Really weird here. We offered him out of nowhere, he wanted to take a visit, set it up, and now it seems like no visit will happen. Very odd.
–Anthony Zettel [DT from MI] – Wanted to visit, but has a game on Saturday.
–Allen Robinson [WR from MI} – Wanted to visit, too, but has a game as well. He’ll be down for the MSU Game.
–Tre Mason [RB from FL] – He’ll probably visit after the season.
–Tommy Schutt [DT from Ill] – 2012 guy…loves PSU, but has a game this weekend too. He’ll surely be up for a game this year.
Think that is it. Now to the guys who will be visiting after the jump…
Albert Louis-Jean [DB from Ma] – This is great news, as I stated on my twitter. Big DB…about 6’1 175…good speed too. Penn State recruited him early on, and pretty hard. Decided to commit to Miami FL. Has visited BC with teammates, and PSU with teammates over the summer…but has continued to say he is a solid commitment to Miami. Now, has decided to visit PSU for this game, obviously. Hopefully we can sway him. Often times, kids aren’t always so keen on traveling 1500 miles…PSU has a legit shot here. Watch out for BC as well.
Andre Sturdivant [Jumbo Athlete from OH] – Glenville recruit…pretty much down to Ohio State and Penn State. No Ohio State offer yet…and one doesn’t seem to be coming. More on the Glenville recruits later though.
Andrew Bennet [TE/OT from Pa] – No offer…very under the radar. Not sure if he gets an offer, but PSU does have some interest.
Angelo Mangiro [OG from NJ] – Penn State Commit. You know he’ll be working some of these guys.
Jordan Kerner [DE/TE from Pa] – Penn State Commit. Look above.
Shawn Oakman [DE from Pa] – Penn State Commit. Look above.
Donovan Smith [OT from Pa] – Penn State still firmly in front. A commitment isn’t likely though…he wants to visit UCLA. Still, I won’t be shocked if he does commit. (Official visit)
Doran Grant [CB from OH] – Don’t expect too much…he has Ohio State and Michigan State way out in front.
Ishaq Williams [DE/TE from NY] – PSU/ND, and Bama…in that order. Depends who you ask. I think Penn State eventually lands him though.
Shane Wynn [WR from OH] and Cardale Jones [QB from OH] – Interesting thing here. Shane Wynn (who has an OSU offer), has said he would love to play with the the 3 other Glenville products: Sturdivant, Jones, and Walker (Massive OT…isn’t visiting though). I wouldn’t put much into though…I think Wynn and Walker go to OSU, while Jones goes to LSU and Sturdivant goes to PSU. Still, interesting though.
2012
Adam Bisnowaty [OL from Pa] – Very big OT from the Pittsburgh area…6’7 275. He actually, goes to the same school as current PSU freshman, Miles D. Bisnowaty wants to stay local, and really likes Pitt and PSU…probably comes down to those schools. Has offers from both schools too.
Averee Robinson [DT from Pa] – From Harrisburgh…a little undersized right now at 6’1 255. A very good high school wrestler, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. One to keep an eye out for.
Bryan Cox Jr [DE from OH] – 6’3 225…athletic, but needs to gain some weight. Getting interest from LSU, PSU, and OSU, among others. Has NFL bloodlines, too.
Cannaan Severin [ATH from Ma] – 6’2 215…looked at as a WR, Flex TE, or a FS/SS. Doesn’t have WR speed, but still looks athletic. Has offers from BS and NC ST…whose coach, Tom O’Brien knows the area very well, having coached at BC.
Chris Muller [OT from Pa] – 6’6 290…have spoken about him before. PSU has a good shot here.
Eugene Lewis [WR from Pa] – 6’2 185…very athletic player. Good speed too. Has quite a few offers. Grew up as a PSU fan. Like our chances here, too.
Greg Garmon [RB from Pa] – 6’2 200…has visited before. Looks to have big time interest in PSU.
Jarron Jones [OT/DT from NY] – Very good looking recruit…6’6 280. Looks athletic, good strength for his age. I expect him to end up being a big time recruit throughout the eastern coast.
Jordan Mynatt [ATH from MD] – About 6’0 170. Decent speed, looks to be athletic. WR or DB.
JP Holtz [TE/DL from PA] – Not sure if I have brought him up before. Pretty impressive kid…about 6’4 230. Has legit PSU interest, too.
Marcus McGill [WR/DB from NY] – Don’t know too much about him…6’1 190. Still under the radar.
JJ Denman [OT from Pa] – Huge OT…6’7-6’8 310 already. Expect him to be recruited by most of the east coast, including the SEC. He is originally from Arkansas, I believe. Have herd PSU isn’t in his top group of schools right now, but that can all change with one visit.
Nate Smith [DB from Pa] – Good looking kid…about 5’11 170. Has a South Carolina offer, and likes other schools like Oregon and Ohio State. Obviously, some Penn State interest as well.
Noah Spence [DE from Pa] – You will be hearing his name a LOT. Huge recruit…coast to coast. 6’3 235 from Bishop McDevitt…his dad played at NC State, so they have a slight edge. He likes Pitt too. Would be an excellent get for Penn State…Top 5 DE next year, with out a doubt.
Ruhann Peele [WR from NJ] – Has a Rutgers offer…goes about 6’1 170. We’ll probably learn more in the next few months.
Tyler Alt [Jumbo Athlete from Pa] – Have spoken about him as well. Seems to like the local schools a lot…this will be his 2nd visit to PSU. Has visited Pitt, too.
Believe that is 26 recruits in total…sure some other lesser-known players will also be there. Should be a great weekend…hopefully with PSU pulling out the win.
Really brief thoughts on Penn State-Michigan.
Hoping to see Bolden out there. I think if he does play, he’ll go off and have a great game. But, if he doesn’t, hopefully McGloin or Newsome can step up. I’ll keep my thoughts to myself on those two for now…still need to see more before I can praise or ridicule them. Anyway, just hoping PSU plays with some intensity, fire, and pride.
Michigan – 36
Penn State – 23 (Throw in an extra TD with Bolden)
Thanks for reading.
