Penn State football’s Week 8 opponent surely respects the Nittany Lions heading into Saturday’s matchup.

We’re still a couple of days removed from Penn State football’s most prominent win of the 2019 season against Iowa on the road. As we still celebrate the victory that advanced Penn State to 6-0 on the year, it’s almost time to start looking towards the future.

This week, Penn State’s schedule only gets harder. On Saturday, the team will be back in Happy Valley for a prime time matchup under the lights at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions are set to host another Big Ten rival this week, as they take on the Michigan Wolverines.

Considering this is the 2019 ‘White Out’ game, it has been circled on our calendars for quite a while. But now the stakes are even higher than initially anticipated. Before the season began, a lot of people doubted Penn State. As many acknowledged a light schedule to start the season, predicting a 6-0 record through seven weeks isn’t something many have done.

But that’s where we are at heading into this one. And since Michigan has a loss on their record for this season, Penn State is shockingly early favorites in this game as they have established themselves as a legitimate Big Ten contender in the conference.

Recently, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh had a discussion with the media regarding this week’s matchup. And to no surprise, the Wolverines coach is prepared for a battle with the Lions as they are not to be taken lightly by Michigan this week,

“They’re an excellent football team,” Harbaugh said, according to The Michigan Insider. They’re fast, very athletic, and very strong in all phases. We plan on going in there and play our best football. The better team usually wins. It’s a challenge we’re very excited about.”

Harbaugh described Penn State as a “heckuva good football team.” Seeing the 6-0 record, with a recent win over No. 17 Iowa on the road, Michigan knows they aren’t seeing a team that won against nobodies this week.

After all, Michigan just barely squeaked out a win against Iowa themselves. Before, Michigan probably thought Week 8 this season would be more of a breeze, but suddenly, they are looking up at Penn State preparing for war. Moving forward, Penn State will get everybody’s best shot.
