Four-star wide receiver Marc Britt announced his top three this week, keeping Penn State football as an option.

A hot start for the month of July, quickly cooled down for Penn State football’s 2020 recruiting cycle. As the college football dead period begun towards the end of June, we anticipated a long month with a lack of action. To our surprise, the Nittany Lions ended up having a productive week as June wrapped up, and July had begun.

Lately, though, the commitments have settled down. While the recruiting cycle has been quiet for Penn State, some big additions could be coming in sooner than later. Right now, not many prospects have been making commitments, but some of the top prospects within the class have been narrowing down their choices. And as of late, Penn State has been quite relevant.

Earlier this week, two Florida prospects announced their top team selections. It started with four-star running back, Caziah Holmes. Penn State has kept a close tab on the back, and they are even favored to land his commitment when he makes his decision final on August 9th.

Following Holmes’ announcement was another Florida-based wideout in Bryce Gowdy. Although Gowdy hasn’t been connected to Penn State as much as the former, he still kept them in the mix as he announced his final five. Unlike Holmes though, Gowdy’s decision will come this month.

Now, we can add yet, another four-star Florida-based prospect in the mix. This time, it’s wide receiver, Marc Britt. The six-foot-two-inch, 190-pound wideout received his offer from the Nittany Lions back in December. With only a single visit logged from his 17 offers, it seemed as though the Miami Hurricanes were going to be his favorite.

Back in April, Britt announced his top-six, which contained some major schools such as Alabama, Miami, Florida, LSU, Pittsburgh, and Penn State. On Friday, he narrowed down the top six, to a top three. To our surprise, Miami didn’t make the cut after heavily recruiting him. Instead, his top three selections would be Florida, LSU, and Penn State.

It’s going to be a fierce battle for Penn State to land Britt. There’s a strong possibility he stays put in Florida and goes with the Gators, but he will absolutely consider Penn State as he’s grown very fond of the coaches over time. A commitment from Britt would give the Lions their fourth commitment from a wideout for the 2020 class. He would fall just behind Jaden Dottin, who currently ranks 240th in the nation. Britt, on the other hand, ranks at 278th.
