Check out the 2019 themes for Penn State football

Over the last few seasons, Penn State football has started some popular themes for each home game on the schedule. Those themes will once again be returning for the 2019 season, including the famous White Out.

When the Nittany Lions open the season on August 31 at home against Idaho, it will be Youth Sports Day, with pre-game youth basketball and football clinics. There will also be an opportunity for youth cheer or dance teams to perform at halftime.

The September 7 battle with Buffalo will feature the Blue Band Jam, Scout Day, and THON Day. Additionally, the 1994 team, with stars such as Kerry Collins and Ki-Jana Carter, will be honored during halftime. The 1994 Nittany Lions went undefeated and won both the Big Ten Championship and the Rose Bowl.

Fans will certainly be excited for September 14 when the Pitt Panthers come to town. The relatively new tradition of the Stripe Out will take place that day, with fans being asked to wear either blue or white, depending on which section they are seated in.

Homecoming is set for October 5 when the Nittany Lions will take on the Purdue Boilermakers. It’s already been announced that the team will be donning special “Generations of Greatness” uniforms that will contain certain elements of past designs.

The date that every fan will want to have circled on the calendar this season is October 19. That’s when the Michigan Wolverines, a favorite to win the Big Ten in 2019, will invade Beaver Stadium. It will also be the annual White Out. Already a tough place to play, Beaver Stadium is transformed into an even more difficult environment when the fans are dressed in all white.

Although there’s been no kickoff time officially announced, it’s a safe bet to assume that the game will be played under the bright lights for a national audience.

Military Appreciation Day and All-U Day is set for the November 16 matchup with Indiana. Military members will be honored during the game and will also be eligible to receiver free tickets. Penn state’s branch campuses will also be recognized at halftime.

Penn State’s home season wraps up on November 30 with Senior Day against Rutgers. It will also be Educator Appreciation Day and Penn State Faculty/Staff Day.

The Nittany Lions will look to continue the success in 2019 that head coach James Franklin has been building for the last number of years. A big part of that success has come from making sure that Beaver Stadium is filled each and every game with loud fans.
