Penn State football senior wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton made the most of his final year in Happy Valley.

Following a breakout freshman season in 2014, big things were expected of DaeSean Hamilton at Penn State. However, two years of falling into the shadow of Chris Godwin made Hamilton a bit of a forgotten player heading into 2017. Fortunately for both Hamilton and Penn State, he made himself well-known again during his senior season.

Hamilton was very productive during the 12 games of the regular season and put himself on the map for the upcoming NFL Draft.

He finished the regular season as Penn State’s leader with 747 receiving yards and once again emerged as the top receiver for the Nittany Lions. He tied with Juwan Johnson to lead the wide receivers with 48 receptions and his seven touchdowns also led all receivers. Only tight end Mike Gesicki had more touchdowns (nine).

He didn’t surpass the 82 receptions and 899 yards from his freshman year, but he did set a new career mark with the nine touchdowns and an average of 15.6 yards per catch.

After watching Godwin be McSorley’s go-to wide receiver a year ago, Hamilton quickly stepped into that role this year. He started the year off strong by making three receptions for 74 yards and an average of 25 yards per catch in the first game of the year against Akron.

Hamilton made three catches in each of the first three games and had his first catch of the year in the win against Georgia State. As the season went on he turned into one of the best receivers in the Big Ten conference.

His best game of the year was a nine-catch, 122-yard, three-touchdown performance that helped fuel the win against Indiana. He finished the regular season with three 100-yard receiving games.

Two down years could make it tough for anyone to come back. Fortunately for Hamilton he was able to put everything behind him and step up in a big way this season. Hamilton bounced back in a big way and turned into a very important piece of the potent Penn State offense.

With one more game left in Hamilton’s collegiate career, look for him to put up some big numbers in the Fiesta Bowl and end his career on a high note.
