Welcome back to the weekly look at all things Penn State Football recruiting here at Victory Bell Rings, the weekly recruiting roundup.

As is usually the case this time of year, the past week has been a busy one in the world of Penn State Football recruiting. The Nittany Lions had a big recruiting weekend last weekend. Furthermore, they are preparing for a big visitor this weekend, and they had a commit earn a big time honor this week.

With all of that said, let’s begin this week’s Penn State Football recruiting roundup.

Last Weekend’s Visitors

This past weekend the Nittany Lions hosted a small but important group of visitors on campus. Penn State hosted both uncommitted and committed prospects over the weekend. And while they did not earn any new commitments, the weekend was still a success.

One of the uncommitted visitors on campus was defensive end Jayson Oweh. This was the New Jersey native’s second visit to Happy Valley this spring. He is a player whose recruitment is starting to really blow up as he has received offers in the past few weeks from both Ohio State and Notre Dame.

More from Victory Bell Rings

While Oweh’s recruitment still has a ways to go, the Nittany Lions find themselves in a great spot right now. As his recruitment carries on, the Nittany Lions will be tough to beat for the Garden State defensive end.

Another uncommitted visitor was defensive end Eyabi Anoma. Anoma is the 47th best player in the country according to the composite rankings of 247 Sports. This was the Baltimore native’s first visit to campus.

While the Nittany Lions have a long way to go to become a player in Anoma’s recruitment, getting him on campus is the first step. Now, it is up to the coaching staff to get him back to campus again.

Finally, there was defensive tackle PJ Mustipher. The 4-star defensive tackle is an Owings Mills, Maryland, native and toward the top of Penn State’s board at defensive tackle. Following this visit, the Nittany Lions appear to be the team to beat for Mustipher.

It is possible that Mustipher could announce his commitment sooner rather than later. Right now, the Nittany Lions will be very difficult to beat.

Joining these players on campus was 4-star defensive athlete commit Nick Tarburton. Anoma, Tarburton, and Mustipher can be seen together during their visit below.

A Big Visitor This Weekend

This weekend, Penn State will host its top remaining offensive line target. According to Blue White Illustrated, 4-star offensive tackle Rasheed Walker will be on campus. This will be Walker’s first visit to campus since late January.

Entering the visit, the Nittany Lions appear to be the team to beat for the Waldorf, Maryland, native. With Penn State’s offensive line quickly filling up Walker could feel some pressure to pull the trigger soon, and he has said in the past he would like to announce a commitment before the start of his senior season.

That said, Walker is a good enough prospect that it is impossible to envision a scenario in which he would get shut out of a spot in Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class.

Penn State Commit Gets Open

Tight end commit Zack Kuntz got open on Wednesday night. The Camp Hill native will compete at The Opening competition in Oregon next month. He will join quarterback commit Justin Fields and wide receiver commit Justin Shorter in Oregon.

This is a great honor for Kuntz, as well as a well-deserved one. Only the best high school football players in the country get invited to The Opening Finals, and Kuntz will now be there. He is rated as the third best tight end prospect in the country by 247 Sports for a reason.
