After a dramatic victory in the season opener in Ireland against the UCF Knights, the Penn State Nittany Lions come home for the first game of the season at Beaver Stadium.

This week’s opponent is the Akron Zips. After a 5-7 season in 2013, that included three-straight wins to end the year, the Zips started 2014 on the right foot. Akron hosted Howard and dominated in the 41-0 victory.

Penn State will try to not have jet lag after the long flight home from Ireland. The Nittany Lions will be looking to start 2-0 under head coach James Franklin. After a fantastic performance in which he threw for a school record 454 yards, quarterback Christian Hackenberg will look to keep the momentum going.

Sure, there’s still a lot to talk about from last week’s game, but it’s never too early to start looking ahead. Continue to check this preview all week, as it will be updated with links to all of VBR’s coverage of the Nittany Lions’ first home game.
