The Penn State Nittany Lions opened the 2014 season with an impressive victory in the Croke Park Classic over a solid and experienced UCF team. Sure, there were things about the victory that could have been better, but it was the first real game since last year after all.

New head coach James Franklin was able to open up his time at Penn State with the 26-24 victory over the Knights. If he didn’t party too much on the long flight back to the United States from Ireland, he had plenty of time to review game film.

Some things on the film would obviously be very good, while others show some areas of weakness.

In the first installment of a VBR weekly series, we have assigned grades to each Penn State position group. Feel free to chime in with any and all of your agreements and disagreements!
